GasWeek Breakfast Debate: Innovating Europe’s Energy Future: The Role of Gas

MEP Paul Rübig, Chair of the “Research & Innovation” Working Group of the EP Intergroup on "Climate Change, Biodiversity, and Sustainable Development"

Cordially invites you to the breakfast meeting

Innovating Europe's Energy Future: The Role of Gas

Europe has one of the world’s most effective legislation to tackle climate change and move towards a low-carbon future. The energy mix has a central role to play, and plenty of initiatives are in place to ensure Europe will benefit from renewable energy sources and clean technologies over the next decades (the “2030 climate & energy framework”, the ETS, the “Renewable Energy Directive”, etc.). Innovation will be key in this process: it will have to help improve existing energy sources and pave the way for low-carbon systems.

At this event, MEPs, representatives from other EU Institutions, industry and members of the civil society will discuss how the future energy mix will benefit from the role that natural gas has to play as an innovative energy source, as well as in combination with other technologies and sources, to deliver on European climate objectives. The debate will cover domains such as power, heating, transport and innovative, renewable gas solutions.
