Innovation in emissions mitigation – the road ahead for a sustainable future

13 December 2018 (Katowice, COP24, IETA BusinessHub Side Event Room, Pavillion H-2)

The gas industry is taking full part in the innovation trend to address emissions reduction. Carbon Capture Use and Storage (CCUS) can be combined with the conversion of natural gas to hydrogen, as well as electricity generation. CCUS can also help heavy industries such as the steel, cement, refining, and chemicals to reduce their emissions significantly and retain their crucial place in a low carbon EU economy. Additionally, renewable gases, although volumes are still comparatively small, have considerable potential for growth. The gas industry is also committed to further reducing methane emissions from gas production and distribution with the introduction of innovative solutions and new approaches.
