GasNaturally welcomes the European Commission’s European Green Deal, which represents an opportunity to demonstrate the key role of natural, renewable, low-carbon, and decarbonised gaseous solutions in achieving the EU’s 2050 climate neutrality objective. This can be done in a cost-effective manner across multiple sectors, such as heating, transport, power generation, energy-intensive industries. A fast switch from coal to gas wherever cost-efficient, along with a significant upscale of renewable, low-carbon and decarbonised gases on and off the grid are necessary to reach EU greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction objectives. Achieving these objectives can rely on existing gas infrastructure that will continue playing a key role in transporting and storing energy.
